View Full Version : BlueJacking
I've just had some fun reading some stories about 'bluejacking' which it has become to be known.
Basically you need to have a BlueTooth enabled phone and then be around people on Bluetooth devices . You can then connect to their devices and send fun messages to them with an alias.
Has anyone tried this out......some of the stories are hilarious.

Hey
I'm just going to add a more detailed, step-by-step description on what bluejacking is.
1. Get your hands on a Bluetooth-enabled device (mobile phone, PDA, laptop). For the majority of us, we'll be using phones, so for this guide I will assume that you will be using one too.
2. Create a new phone book contact, with the message you want to send to someone in the 'Name' field.
3. Go to a busy place
4. Select the contact you made earlier, and choose 'Send via Bluetooth'
5. Your phone will search for other Bluetooth devices 10m around you. It will either list available devices, or say none could be found. If it doesn't find any, choose another spot.
6. Your phone will list the name that the owner of that device has called it; sometimes phones come factory default with either no name (which will show up to you as 'Unknown') or the model of the phone (e.g. T68i, 6310i).
7. Select a name in the list for your phone book contact to be sent to.
8. If all goes well, your contact will be sent.
9. If you can, try to casually look around you and see if you spot anybody with a bluetooth enabled phone/device around you. It would help greatly if you know which phones have Bluetooth and which don't. This way, you can eliminate anybody who is looking at, say, their Nokia 3310.
10. The rest, as they say, is up to you.

Gutted!!!
The only downside with BlueJacking is when people set their phones to require authorisation before reading/accepting a message. And if its in their pocket, they don't see it.
never heard of this before, would love to try it, just dont have a bluetooth lol
