Has any1 else had any really daft excuses when they have phoned their service provider? Once when the mast local to my home was out of service i had to repeatedly call to find out when it was expected to go back on... :battle:
at first i was told "its routine maintenance it'll just be a few hours...
2 days later - ermm - "theyre working on the mast"...
another 2 days later - ermm - "its because the trees have grown and they are blocking the signal...it may never come back on" (i had just re-newed my years contract 2 weeks previously so i was a bit annoyed as u can imagine as the signal literally disappeared on entering the end of my own street!!) I pointed out that they must indeed be a very rare species of tree which overnight had grown so rapidy as to cause a problem....but this didnt seem to go down very well....! :pissed:
Eventually it came back on 2 weeks later and after kicking up fuss and eventually getting the engineers number - he told me that it was absolutely nothing to do with the trees and he said that i had basically been told a load of total pants during my many calls to the Orange customer services!! Thankfully its been ok since....lets just hope the trees dont sprout in the spring again.....! ahem! ;)

being somebody who works in the industry of dealing with customers, I'll say that the first two are feesable, but the reason for the third one is either bad communication between phone operators (which can happen, there's not much to prevent it) or a lazy representative who had better things to do and wanted you off his case a.s.a.p :)

Yes, defo was a big buck pass! :hammer: I'd rather know the facts even if it was gonna be a week or so the mast would be off because if you know whats happening and the likely timescale you can advise folk trying to get a hold of u etc.....ended up costing me a small fortune in divert calls! :pissed: That said i am still with Orange as the prices and callplans are pretty good and the care contract is fast and hasslefree if you have any probs. ;) U just gotta be wise of the callcentre staff! :teach:
