O. Also, off that, 2 things more.. memory stick: can I buy any "Memory stick" that will work? so a 256 memory stick would work in it? And then, I gather I need irDa to exchange pics from phone... my pc does not have this, so where/how much can i get a pc adapter for?

Cheers agen :D

Hi, firstly as far as I know and have been told unlocking the P900 is simple, if you do the online update from the Sony web site the phone gets wiped, this should remove and nasty network locks that they still insist on putting on phones these days, and then a fresh OS is installed (Don't hold me to this though, its only what I’ve heard). As for memory I'm afraid to say that this is my only criticism of the phone so far, it will only accept up to 128mb Memory Stick Duo, this is because the 256mb stick is the Pro version which is not supported. The good news is that the 128mb stick can be purchased for about £35 on eBay (brand new) whereas in the shops its 60 odd quid! Lastly let me just say that the phone is awesome and you won't regret getting it!! :big grin:

In addition, you should'nt need an IrDA adapter, the standard P900 kit includes a USB cradle that connects to your computer, so if it's not in the box that this guy is selling you, stop the sale there and then until he gives it to you. And not for an extra price, it should be included in the standard kit like I said.

Right. Now the memory.... do you mean that it only takes a 128mb duo memory stick? or will it take a normal 128 memory stick... not duo.. im new to these so not sure of the difference... it is a shame it wont take 256 though....

Also, the USB Cradle... is this basically a data cable as I also heard that things such as pictures can not be transferred easily from the phone to the pc. Is this the case?

I have 2 contacts. One is sellin me 2nd hand for £350,the other 1st for £350.. a little bit dodgy but the guy said hed send me sealed first, then i can pay later as long as he has my details such as name/addy etc... that sounds attractive...

Ill keep looking into it. Any help would be great. So excited bout this phone guys!!!!

The memory must be Duo, the others simply don't fit, when you buy them they tend to come with an adaptor which will convert them to the normal size so the can be used in other Sony products but my experience has shown that you need to reformat the memory stick to do this, something to do with the file structure the P900 uses. Any how the transfer rate is not to bad with the cradle, I can transfer a whole movie onto a 128mb card in about an hour (pictures can be transferred v.quickly with cradle), I'm not sure irda would be any faster!

Right. Thanks. The memory card is prob cheaper from amazon. Someone selling it new!

Im also thinking of getting some protective film. Is it worth buying film and a case thing, or wats best?

About the movie thing, I heard you can get whole movies onto them. Can you convert the .avi file or something to make it to size? I would LOVE to know how to do that.

Didnt realise how much this wud cost... the phone, the protectice stuff, the memory card etc. hehe

Cant WAIT! :D:D:D

The movie thing, to get a movie onto your P900 you need to have it converted into either .mp4 or .3gp, there is very little difference between the two so you decide, the best program to convert avi to either of the two I just mentioned is pvAuthor but you will need to pay for it.

Screen protection: When I got my P900 I was paranoid about scratching the screen and didn't take the keypad off until I had a screen protector on, the one I've got is great, you can't scratch it, tear it or cut it! Take a look on eBay they are really cheap and come with a guarantee.

To rip a DVD use a program like Super DVD ripper and rip to .avi, then just convert to .mp4 or .3gp.

You should get a case in the standard kit but its got a non removable belt clip on it which annoyed me, it all depends on whether a small scratch on the phone would bother you or not!? I've converted Resident Evil into .3gp and it takes up 67mb so its not to bad!

One of the best places to find out about new software and try some of it is:

http://my-symbian.com/uiq/download/index.php

There are some cool free programs going as well so just go for a browse, you never know what you might find.
