Hi! I just got this phone, and I have moved from a Nokia phone to this phone. In my Nokia phone, I could copy all my numbers from the Phone to the SIM, and vice versa.

Now with the Samsung, I cannot find this function!

I have to manually copy one by one from the SIM to the Phone, and then delete the number from the SIM???

I hope there is an easier way!!

Can somebody help?

I have 300 numbers to transfer...so anyone who comes up with an idea...I'll marry you. :p

Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Michelle

Your popular 300 numbers....all those nights out I bet :)

You could use a PC sync suite that comes with the Samsung phone to migrate all to the PC then back to the SIM card rather than the phone.

However can you not copy them all to the SIM card on the Nokia and then just place the SIM card into the Samsung.

I've got no idea at all.

If I remember rightly when I had my T100 (now resting at the bottom of Shoreham Harbour - RIP) :( , I had to do them one by one.

Try what Kruger suggests, it seems the best way to go about it.

BTW I'm available....:p

Thanks for the ideas. :) Of course, I have no idea where to get this program, and let's say I had the program, how do I get the information TO my computer?

Are you trying to tell me I have to spend more money? :D

The programs can usually be picked up on Kazaa, but you will need a PC to Phone Data Suite cable which you can pick up quite cheaply.

However I'm not too sure why you dont just copy them onto your SIM in the Nokia and then use the SIM in the Samsung, unless you need to use a new SIM card.

Seeing as I am in the Land of Milk and Honey (Israel) you can imagine how hard it is to find anything, cheap.

If I do find the cable somewhere, I am sure it will cost and arm and a leg. Now if I could give someone else's arm or leg, then it would suit me fine.. :)

Anyhow, before anyone gets their panties in an uproar, I am originally from Los Angeles, and I'm stationed here in the US Military.

Now, for the technical stuff: my Nokia phone has 150 numbers in the memory, and the SIM has 160. I put the new SIM into the Samsung, and poof! I have 160 numbers in my Samsung! BUT...I need the numbers from the PHONE memory as well (another 150). So what I had to do was MANUALLY save each of the 160 to the PHONE memory of the Samsung. Now I have to erase the SIM, then copy the phone memory from the Nokia to the SIM, then put that into the Samsung. All good, right? Wrong. I have to keep all the numbers in the Nokia as well (as this will be my car phone).

So this is where it gets sticky. ;) I have to keep the original SIM in the Nokia and the new SIM in the Samsung. So right now, I have the correct numbers in the Nokia, and DOUBLE numbers (from the SIM) in the Samsung.

I'm afraid I will confuse the whole thing up and either lose numbers or worse. :) I also do not relish the idea of manually copying another 150 numbers to the Samsung.

Oh well. I guess that's what I get for buying a Samsung. :)

How about transferring via a business card/infrared type solution.....don't know the exact specs of the phones I'll have to look but that may also be an option...

Or you could take the opportunity to delete some of those numbers that you never use....:)

I have a Samsung T100 and they tend to be pretty bad for this sort of thing, certainly over the Nokia....what you need to get is a smart phone where you can add your own memory sticks so you can transfer all of your numbers and also keep your favourite mp3's etc.....

There is another possibility I had an email a while ago from a chap who has a company called SIM Guard. I believe that you can upload all of your numbers to your account on the web and then download them to whatever phone you have. I think it was about $15 for a years service.

And if all else fails...its something to do when its raining :)

Unfortunatley, it hardly rains here. It's hot, sticky, and too sunny. :)

Thanks for all the help. I can't help but imagining the Freddy Kruger is answering me....waiting for me to fall asleep so he can kill me. :p

Uploading the numbers wouldn't do me much good, as when I download them, I would have to send 150 SMS messages - and we pay for them. :)

I don't think my phone has Infra. The Nokia did, and I have a backup on my laptop. I'll do my best.

See, times like this...I need a boyfriend. Then I could make him do it for me. :D

TTYL,
Mish
