Hi, I'm new, and have enjoyed reading your posts so far! But gotta question. Just replaced my lovely p800 with an spv E200, but orange are telling me the email function has gone!!! It's mentioned in the book, and in all the advertising, and on the website etc. But no proper email client???? Even my t610 has one of these!!! Without email, how can this be a smartfone???

So is this right? Or am i being fobbed off....

Cheers guys!

I'm not really sure to be honest, I've never used that function.
But, I do remember trying to set it up to test it and I had a few problems with it as such. But, it is possible. It's actually incorporated into the SMS/MMS part under Activesync, but when I tried that, all it did was sync my current e-mails with my PC. However, I later found out that if I entered the settings in right it could connect to the net and download them from my mail server independantly.
I haven't tried it since as I've abandend all normal e-mail services for Hotmail (no more spam! Woohoo!), which won't work on a smartphone anyway.
try www.smartphone.modaco.com. it's a forum dedicated to windows powered smartphone (i know guys, it's another forum, but they don't change (me thinks) and their the central place for everything smartphone based).

well....I'm getting there, but reaching 'throw the phone out the window' stage.

I finally got a freeserve no ties email account up and running, and have it set up on my E200. It's receiving emails no problems.

However, I've tried sending test emails to a couple of different email addresses from the phone, and each time I get an error email back saying that the mail address I'm trying to send to isn't valid (I know it is though).

Any pointers anyone?!

Cheers, but I finally found it!!! After orange telling me FIVE TIMES it can't be done on the SPV E200, it's there. Unbelievable. You have to configure a new accountmand it's there. They just took the wix=zard out for it. But the staff at customer service really believe it aint there. They kept telling me to return it, I bet they are inundated with returned phones from disgruntled businessmen, and for no reason!

Apart from the battery I love this phone. And I have had a lot of phones!!! Anyone know of a good bluetooth headset which works?

Cheers

The Plantronics M3000, one of the best quality ones out there at the moment.

The smtp server is different to what you would normally use. Even if your account is with freeserve, you have to send your emails orange's own servers. I think i=you should try in the smtp server typing smtp.orange.net

If this dosn't work, phone 156. I presume you are with Orange...
