View Full Version : READING FC March to the Premiership Thread
Can't wait for the new season.....cmon Reading Premiership this time around.......
Playing Ipswich tomorrow.....gonna stuff them. :)
Why wouldn't your lot sell us Tony Rougier?? Or at least let him stay on loan at Brighton longer last season. He could have made the difference!!!!
Brighton play Oldham tomorrow. Should be interesting now we've lost Bobby..
Yep
But we've just given you Darius Henderson on loan for a month....I didin't rate Rougier that much kept falling over all the time but very powerful.....
Can't wait to see how Sean Goater plays tomorrow.........hopefully you guys will bounce back up this season....
Sean Goater is a good signing. If he scores like he used to at Man City, you'll be back up there again.
And why couldn't Reading GIVE him to Brighton PERMANENTLY! FOC!! GRATIS!!!
Damn 94th minute penalty.........what a croc....
Oh well at least Darius came through for you guys.......
I just can't believe the ref for the game yesterday what a tosser
Wel thats two good results......3-0 against Nottingham Forest....and 3-1 in the league cup...bring on Derby County...
Derby 2 Reading 3 ....keep it coming :)
And Barnsley 1 Brighton 0..
Now we want Darius!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brighton won though. Come on Seagulls..
We'll be playing you next year
But we are going to steal your manager Steve Copell come Thursday :)
Not a prayer mate.
:toungue:
Prayers Answered I think :)
Glenn Hoddle will not be taking over as Reading boss, with Brighton manager Steve Coppell set for the position.
Sacked Spurs manager Hoddle had been widely tipped to take charge of First Division Reading.
But his agent Dennis Roach told BBC Sport that Hoddle has not even been interviewed for the job, clearing the way for Coppell to take charge.
"There have not been any negotiations with Reading and there will not be any," Roach told this website.
"I have been involved with Glenn for 20 years and if there had been any negotiations then I would have been involved, but there have been none.
"He has not been interviewed."
I think his priority at the moment is to get over Tottenham
Reading could have provided Hoddle with an immediate return to football 10 days after his sacking at Spurs.
The former England manager lives opposite the Royals' Berkshire training base.
But Roach told BBC Sport that Hoddle intends to take a break from management following his departure from Spurs.
"I think his priority at the moment is to get over Tottenham. He will probably take a little time out," Roach said.
Coppell is now in line to take over at Reading in time for Saturday's First Division match at home to Bradford.
He had a second interview with Reading on Wednesday and this website understands he has now been offered the job.
Coppell will succeed Alan Pardew, who was a player under his management at Crystal Palace.
Brighton confirmed Coppell, who has steered Brighton to second in Division Two, has held talks with Reading about their vacant managerial post.
But Seagulls chairman Dick Knight hopes to keep him at the Withdean Stadium.
A statement on Brighton's official website read: "We can confirm that Steve Coppell had talks with Reading Football Club regarding the vacant manager's position at the Madejski Stadium.
"However, Albion chairman Dick Knight is doing everything within his power to persuade Coppell that his future lies with the Seagulls."
Pardew left Reading in controversial circumstances last month, resigning as manager after being refused permission to talk to West Ham, where he will eventually be installed as boss on 18 October.
Coppell has a clause in his Brighton contract allowing him to move to a club from a higher division.
Reading chief executive Nigel Howe confirmed: "We still aim to make an announcement this week, but it will certainly not be on Thursday."
Quote from the local rag..
"I understand he is not particularly impressed by Reading's financial package. He is happy with the Seagulls and will take the weekend to think things over"
HE WON'T GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES HE WILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Monday 6th October..............................
Steve Coppell resigns from Brighton............to lead Reading FC to the promised Land of the Premiership.
His reason was Reading FC had a better ground than Brighton.
I bet on Tuesday will see Danny Cullip signing for the Royals, we need some Defence cover!!
Come on uuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

How many managers have Brighton had over the last 3 years?
Micky Adams
Peter Taylor
Steve Coppell
I wonder who will be your next one on Monday??:sot:
In the Sun this morning.. nearly p***** myself laughing!!
COPPELL SNUB FOR READING
Steve Coppell has snubbed Reading's offer to take over at the Madejski Stadium after he could not agree personal terms
The Brighton manager was interviewed twice for the post vacated by West Ham-bound Alan Pardew.
It is understood Coppell was offered a similar package to Pardew, in the region of £160,000 a year.
Coppell's refusal leaves the way clear for former Arsenal skipper Tony Adams   to land his first management post.

Hey Kruger - I guess we don't have to be to concerned - Its only the SUN - and you know the amount of crap that comes from that rag - don't they get everything the wrong way around????
So I guess Coppell has agreed personal terms!!

When do we get Coppell and Henderson back:conf:
Well done asphaltic - nice to see you doing so well even without Zamora!! Did you go to the game today??
No. I have it on the radio. It's nigh on impossible to get a ticket.
The downside to playing where they do, only about 6600 capacity but thats the Brighton Council for you. Unless there can be shops hotels cafes bars and restaurants withing the planned stadium complex they don't want to know.
Kruger and Ontarioguy...
You're both rather quiet....
Not sulking are you??
Still no news on the Coppell saga, I keep checking all the footy sites but nothing... It said somewhere that when he was walking towards the tunnel he turned round and had a long look round the ground, as if he wouldn't see it again. And all the fans were shouting his name. So maybe he is off.... If you do get him (and I really hope you don't), you're getting a good one

Asphaltic.
We know he's a good one thats why we want him!!
Its a shame these things have to happen on football, but I guess its like any job you always want to better yourself.
Even if we do get him - I hope you make its up to DIV 1:banana:
Well boys, I've heard that Reading have upped their offer to our manager, and read on a forum that one of Brighton's first team told someone that an announcement will be made tomorrow that you have got your man...
So if I vanish for a bit, it's cos I'm sulking!!!!!!!

By the way where should I send the tissues?    :glass:
Build Falmer now I hear you cry :)
Been crying the for ages!!
The site is within the boundaries of two local councils (Brighton & Hove City Council and Lewes Council). One wants it and the other doesn't. And part of the site is owned by the university...
It's very political.
Still maybe the £230K Reading paid Brighton as compensation for "nicking" our manager will be put towards the fight.

Whose in the lead as far as replacements go for Brighton?
I heard Mr. Prescott is helping out the Falmer stadium situation?
I think Lawrie Snachez :)

Apparently Ian Dowie (Oldham) and Steve Cotterill (unemployed) are in the running as is Graham Rix.
