The next time your Ericsson phone pauses, it may be waiting for you to punch in that secret code.

Hidden games have been discovered in the Ericsson T68. These surprises--commonly known as Easter eggs--are launched after the correct sequence of keys is inputted at the right moment. So far, three additional games and a secret message have been unveiled within the standard onboard games Erix, Q, Tetris, and Ripple. If you unearth more gems, do keep us informed.

Developers have long hidden entertaining nuggets of code in their software and on Web sites for you to ferret out. Called Easter eggs in computer parlance, these hidden treats are usually hard to stumble across by accident. Usually, you can trigger the eggs only with a complex combination of keystrokes or mouse movements.

When contacted, a Sony Ericsson Singapore spokesperson professed to know nothing of the Easter eggs in the T68, but promised he would get back to us with more information.

A caveat: While keying in random numbers, in search of other secrets, the phone auto-restarted on us. So have fun, but at your own risk!

Here are the codes: Secret Activation procedure Comments

1. Snake game
Enter the Erix game. At the splash screen where the lines appear to form the word "Erix", key in "123". Snake requires no introduction to mobile phone aficionados. You control a moving line, the "snake", and go chomping after little red dots.

2. "Arrange the squares" game
Enter the game Q. At the splash screen where the letter "Q" appears, key in "3*5". When you start the game, you see a four-by-four grid with 15 numbered squares. There is a space for you to move the squares into. The objective is to line the squares from "1" to "15" in the shortest time possible.

3. "Bigger or smaller" game
Enter the game Ripple. At the splash screen where the title appears, key in "654456". You see a poker card on the screen. Guess whether the next card is higher or lower by pressing "up" and "down". One point for each correct answer. Score goes back to zero for every wrong answer.

4. Secret message
Enter the game Tetris. At the splash screen where the bricks start falling, press "397". A simple but thoughtful message appears, then the falling bricks fade back in and Tetris continues.
