Sony Computer remote phone

Sony is working on a gadget that combines the qualities of a phone with a computer file manager. The as-yet unnamed device is smaller than a conventional phone, and uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) to make calls, so you'll need to be near a computer to take advantage of its voice calling ability.

The really clever bit though, is that it makes it very easy to arrange and transfer files. It connects to a computer via infrared, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and displays files on its own screen. Those chosen can then be sent to another computer while keeping a record of where everything is. The device doesn't store the files, but instead holds a directory of file locations, allowing other computers to find them. So you can access your home computer from the office and send over those files that you forgot to send to your office computer, or even send them on to a third party. It will be aimed primarily at hot-spot workers who operate from a variety of offices.
