I think it's a case of you have to be registered with their shop, not just their online services (like SMS, e-mail etc.) like you get from the main page.

It worked for me and I'm registered with the shop from buying o2 sims before

I am registered with the shop though as I have also purchase sim cards.

Did you get this link in an email actually from o2 mobileextra because if you did maybe a select few got it and their is a list of whom is has been sent to.

Yes I got an email from them............. Maybe you have to be registered for a certain length of time before you can receive free sims
