View Full Version : Virgin Nokia 3510i problem - Data Cable not working

I have a Nokia 3510i that I bought from Virgin. I had problems unlocking it as anyone who was using a datacable could not connect. My own cable does not connect and a few others I have tried do not. I have heard that Virgin had the phones modified to stop cables working and so to try to prevent unlocking off their network. Does anyone know what they did and can a cable be modified to work?

Thanks
Gary

Don't know whats wrong with yours but mine works fine with my datacable???
Maybe you need the contacts cleaning or something?

I have tried all that. When I went to get it unlocked I was told by serveral people that Virgin phones could not be unlocked (I assume that they used a data cable). A friend has one from Virgin and the cable works fine on it so I assume it might just be some of them. Any ideas where to start looking? Any tests I can do?

They CAN be unlocked.

Virgin phones have 2 locks and most unlocking software can only unlock Lock 1. But the one I use can also open Lock 2.

If you do want it unlocked give us a shout...

thanks for that, I did get it unlocked in the end but now trying to get it working with the data cable. Seems it works as an Mbus cable but not Fbus
