Nokia 7200::

Yet another fashion-led phone from Nokia, and very unusually, it's a clamshell. Up until now Nokia has, quite sensibly, stuck to its bar-shape only philosophy (well, sort of - see Nokia 7600) for the simple reason that they sell more. Clamshells are gaining ground however, with strong contenders from Motorola, Samsung and even Sony Ericsson, so Nokia has finally decided to give it a go. Of course, merely aping a previous clamshell design would be very un-Nokia, so they've gone for a unique shape, distinctly oblong, without the rounded edge that would make it easier to slide into the pocket. The velour-style fabric cover gives it an extremely tactile feel and inside the keypad looks 'blocky' but is very easy to use, especially when compared to some of Nokia's more outré keypad designs, such as the 7210 or even the N-Gage.

It has its own integrated camera with the lens mounted at the top of the clamshell, well away from straying fingers while you're snapping and you can choose between taking still photos or even short video clips. Whichever you choose, either will render well on its bright and sharp 65,000-colour screen.

Things To Know
The look of this phone is of course very important and it comes with its own 'Style Pack', which includes alternative fabric covers, a wristband for extra-nonchalant transportation and a co-ordinated carry case. There are even matching wallpapers and screensavers you can download to complete the overall look.

For entertainment the 7200 has Nokia's extremely efficient FM radio and comes with a pair of stereo headphones. It also comes with three Java games - Backgammon, Bowling and Disco.

One potentially useful feature once the networks get behind it is Nokia's new-ish 'presence-enhanced contacts' which allows others to instantly see your availability and even how you prefer to be contacted at a given time. Set your profile to 'Meeting', for example, and similarly equipped friends or colleagues trying to contact you can be informed via the 'Presence Server' that they can only reach you by text or picture messaging.
