Hi,

I've got an e700, the easy studio software and an IrDA USB adapter from eBuyer. The software loads OK, the Infrared tab on the task bar says my phone is in range, but I can't access it at all. Help!

When I look at the settings in easystudio, it lists 4 com ports, but no IrDA port. I've tried selecting each one, and turing the transfer rate up to the max but still no joy.

Any ideas?

Cheers

not sure, try sending stuff from your PC to the phone directly by using the built-in windows sending thing over Infrared.

What kind of thing should I try to send?

well whatever you were going to send before. Try simple things like small pictures first.
If not then I don't know. I'm a little worried as this is exactly how I wanted to transfer stuff to my E700 if i ever get one...

Got it!
I've been researching this all day for me and my cousin (both getting one at beginning of April now) and I think I've found out how to get it working with IrDA (In theory anyway...)

Have a look here:

and here for a step-by-step guide:

hope this helps :)

Cheers, but I'm still not getting any further. It must be a problem with my set-up as I know people are quite happily downloading photos off their phones. Thay all seem to have Windows XP though...

I've managed to get as far as getting Easystudio to open and be online, but when it starts loading the phonebook etc it brings up an error saying 'error loading phonebook' and then 'error loading messages' or something similar...

Arh. This is realy driving me up the wall.

I had to set the HaM setting to COM 5 (non-standard com port) to get it to go anywhere. As fo photostudio, it doesn't even recognise the phone is there.

Help!

when you say all your friends have Windows XP, does that mean you don't? That could be it, as I don't think the software is designed specificly to work with anything but XP.
Don't know for sure, but I'd say that could be it.

Think you're right. I got it to work last night on a PC at work running windows 2000 pro which I think is more or less the same as XP, it just looks different.

Cheers anyway - looks like the advice is to get a modern OS or demand samsung make the ES software usable on more platforms.

yep, thats definetley it then. Good thing you mentioned that, it actually helps me out with customers at work for when they want to link their E700's up to their PC's :)

Hmm...! Well after all that, I got a different copy of the EasyStudio software, and re-installed it, and now it works fine. A little slower than on the PC at work, but mine only has USB 1.0, not the high speed 2.0.

So I guess, after all that, it was the software!

Bloody computers!
