I'm having problems downloading pictures to my 6100 using I-R.

I've tried using both the UK version (5.1) and the US (5.12) of Nokia PC Suite (you should see the terms and conditions on the US version - they cover themselves against everything in case they get sued). It doesn't matter what format I try to download the pictures in, it always comes up as 'Failed to update the picture". I have the pictures sized correctly (128*128).

Any ideas guys and gals???

EDIT 20.58

It's just done one picture now its playing up again. Is it the IR???

could be, but data suite has known to be fairly tempremental with some files. I could never get some ringtones on my 5100 via infrared but for no apparant reason, just because the phone did'nt like the file, even after i re-wrote the sp-midi files : /
I dont know to be honest, all i can say is, try getting the pics from another source (i.e. if you downloaded it from a website then try a different website etc.).

I did read this on another forum. It's a reply from Club Nokia in Norway to someone who had a problem with his 7250 using PC Suite 5.1 (not the same as the problem I've been having though).

"WE KNOW PC SUITE 5.1 IS UNSTABLE AND EXPECT A NEW VERSION AT THE END OF THE SUMMER"

Complacency on Nokia's part???? Maybe. So I did a bit of investigation.

When you go to download a picture, it offers you 4 options - .BMP, .GIF, .JPG and .WBMP

It seems to prefer the pictures to be downloaded in either .JPG or .GIF format but having said that, it can still be temperamental with those.

When the phone is either right up next to the IR device or about 8 inches away it seems to be ok, but anywhere inbetween that it's very on/off (message comes up saying that wireless device has moved out of range (????).

It does help though if you place something over the gap between the phone and the IR device, like a book or CD case (so the transfer is done under cover).

Looks like the solution is trial and error then (and patience).

If I find a complete solution, I'll post it on the forum.
