Right guys, Im still having a few issues with my phone, I will list them out below if anyone can help, you should go get a job with 3, cause your be more help than all of them put together :bo:

1) 3 doesnt allow roaming of outside URL's, something which they say can be possible in teh future, anyone know/heard anything on this.

2) Im still unable to get the drivers on the CD-ROM that came with the phone installed and working. (win wizard on first run will locate drivers, 2 spanish, 2 english, installs one, win wizard finishes, but then suddenly locates new hardware again and try's to locate drivers again, at which point it says its unable to).

3) Only able to creat a maximum of 5 folders to store things, this is the same on the phone or on teh memory stick ???

Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated....

Ok, here goes my best shot (based on the time I spent with my NEC e808 from 3 :) ).

1. 3 Totally restrict their phones (except the Nokia 7600, I think) from surfing to external URL's for the simple fact that there is no way of charging you for looking at them. They don't have WAP or GPRS charges for their service because the only WAP sites you can view are 3's internal ones with only their content. It uses GPRS only to send MMS & Video Messages and to use 3's services, and to do this the use of the GPRS is free, you just pay for the content downloaded/pictures or video's sent.
But hopefully they should unrestrict this in the future, I know I would have found it incredibly usefull. I mean, whats the point in having a fully functional handset when you can't even view WAP pages on it's lovley big colour screen?

2. All I can remember from my e808 is when you plug it in, XP (if your using XP) will pick it up, open the wizard to install new hardware, search the CD-ROM and your supposed to be able to choose the English driver to install (make sure you've chosen the right option to let you choose the driver yourself). Then, once the wizard has finished, it'll do it all over again from the little bubble popping up in the corner. And it'll do it a total of 4 times until you've installed all 4 drivers (it needs them to do let it function as 4 different devices, supposedly). Thats all I know about this. Best to check NEC's website for the latest drivers, or if that fails, try 3's website if you have'nt done already, tho the odds of them actually providing drivers are unlikley.

3. I honestly don't remember anything about folders in the e808. All I remember is opening the NEC software and choosing what I wanted to do and it would copy it to the phones memory automaticly and put it in the right folder etc. I honestly don't know how the new NEC software/hardware would work in comparison, so you might have to e-mail NEC UK on this one.

Cheers Dude, are you the only one one this site :ugh: :ugh: :ugh:

Now Im going to ask you one more thing. Were the hell can I get java apps from, what kind of apps can you get. I keep hearing/reading everyone going on about it but I havent been able to find any sites that actually do java apps.

And lastly, am I wasting my time trying to find apps/games on the internetwork, or should I get something like P2P ?????

Lol, I'm not the only one on here, I've been here 2nd or 3rd longest (i think, ish), but I'm the only one with a 3 phone (even though I have'nt used it since November lol).
As for the Java apps, I'm honestly not sure, I never looked really for me e808.
But, I think many Java games written for other phone might be compatible with it. Not sure tho. I don't think my NEC software gave me the option to upload games, so I never tried, but theres loads of ones out there for Nokia's or Sony Ericssons etc.
It honestly depends on whether or not you want to pay for them :)

And Internetwork? lol :)

You got to love those BT adverts, they crack me up (this forum has the worst smilie collection ever)....

I dont mind paying if its an app worth having, thing is I have never had a phone able to run Java before so I havent a frigging clue what Im suppose to be looking for.

well pretty much anything (within reason). There loads of simple games like Pacman and Space Invaders etc, but most are designed for just Nokia's, so I can't guarentee they'll work.

Some phones like the A920 are restricted from installing 3rd party symbian applications etc. and 3 disabled the bluetooth in them for some reason ??

Hey welcome to the world of 3 ..... and good luck with the call centres ;)

Are 3 phones really that good or is it all just hype as things like that usually are. If one guy hasn't used his 3mobile since november, it kinda don't sound too good

No, its the fact that I bought it for a rock bottom price and I've bought 2 new phones since then. When I bought it I wholely did'nt intend to use it as a proper phone for daily use at all, just for its features and 3 months free video download. £45 for a phone with 2 digital cameras/video cameras, an MP3 player, £10's worth of video downloads a months and a huge colour screen is'nt bad. Plus no line rental. Thats why I bought it.
But theres nothing wrong with their service, they have some amazing deals, and many people now buy them for the tariffs, not the phones.
