Vertu Platinum phone
The world's most expensive phone may not exactly be a treat for gadget buffs, but at 15 grand a pop, nobody's buying this pocket-sized instant credit rating so they can play the latest game downloads. Under the platinum hood it's got polyphonic ringtones but only a monochrome screen and no games, Java, Bluetooth or GPRS. Even so, the bling bling factor is off the scale.
The internal components are completely separate from the casing (and supplied by Nokia, as it happens) so you'll be able to add new innovations, including 3G technology, while keeping the (really) expensive bits. You'll need an appointment to buy in one of Vertu's trés select stores worldwide, but you do get a personalised concierge service to arrange your travel, theatre tickets, polo matches etc for you.
