My first nokia, a 3510i, help!

Hi. i got my first nokia today, a 3510i.
I have plugged it in to charge. However nothign appears on the screen, and if I try to turn it on nothing happens. It says in the manual that if the battery is completely flat, nothing will appear on the screen when charging until a few minutes. Ive had it plugged in for about half an hour, nothing has happend. Is this normal?

Was it a brand new phone or did you buy it secondhand?

If it was brand new then that doesn't sound right. If it was secondhand, could be anything.....

Was brand new. Im going to get a replacement.

One of the salesmen in the carphone warehouse said to me that the 3510i had battery prob issues............have not heard of that before tho, you are right to take it back.
