Unlocking a Nokia 7110

Hello...
Ive just changed my phone and would like to give my old Nokia 7110 to a friend. Better to be used than binned...

The phone was on O2 until I ported the number to "3", and I cannot remember the handset security code.

I did this and got a message "sim was not restricted" and the phone is asking for the security code. Do I need to do something else ?
