let me guess, he got the cable/cd from ebay? The one thing we always say here is never buy dodgy cables with cd's from ebay, simply because they are the biggest pain in the arse to install and get working with any software.

I wish i had seen this earlier. Just bought a USB cable and cd from ebay and can't seem to get it to recognise the phone
You may just need drivers installed on your PC to make it work.
I am not an expert on data cables (IRDA Infra Red is my field).
When you plug the cable into your phone then into the USB port does your PC do anything? If you have XP it would say "New device found".
But I am sure that the problem is that the PC does not have the correct drivers installed, if you can find them (try Google) then it (fingers crossed) might work. :teach:
Good luck.
The software you need is called MobiMB
got a copy if u need it

Good luck. The cable came with a driver disk which i installed and then plugged in the cable and the message "New Hardware Found" did come up but i can't get it to recognise my phone.
