CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME, I HAVE JUST BOUGHT THE IrDA CABLE FROM EBUYER, AND I HAVE GOT THE E700, I ALSO HAVE THE EASYSTUDIO SOFTWARE FROM THE SAMSUNG WEBSITE. ME PHONE CONNECT TO FILE MANAGER BUT I CANT SEND ANY PICTURES OR MELODYS TO MY PHONE, DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT I AM DOING WRONG AND HOW TO CORRECT THIS,

If you go to ebuyer there are reviews there about the IRDA and i know someone has posted the settings you need.
Apparently you have to change it from the default........i will look now for you.

Try this........

To resolve this, simply:

1. Go to "Device Manager" (Right Click "My Computer", Left Click "Properties", Click Left Click "Hardware" Tab, Left Click "Device Manager" button).
2. Left Click "+" sign next to "Infrared Devices"
3. Right Click "SigmaTel USB-IrDA Dongle", Left Click Properties.
4. Left Click "Advanced" tab.
5. Left Click on "Infrared Transceiver Type"
6. Change the "Value" from "SigmaTel 4012 (Default)" to "SigmaTel 4000"
7. Left Click "OK"
8. You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take affect.

Let me know if it works cos i was thinking of buying one.

my pc is reading my phone but the file manager isnt anymore, before i changed the setting this happened

I will try to find out although i should imagine Azza will be able to help you as he has an E700 and i think an IRDA.

i am not entirely sure, best speak to daedalus he may know what to do because he sorted out my IRDA cable for me i think it is very simple just go through the step by step instructions, when it is sorted then you just switch on the infared on the phone then it should corrispond with the computer but u need all of the pims and easy studio software in order to make this work, but as i said i am not entirely sure:)

Ah have u d/l pims filemanager and image editor cause you can work everything through it:)

ok, basicly the way I remember doing it is like this:

The first time you connect your phone to the PC by infrared, it should bring up several balloons at the bottom (in Windows XP) one after the other, then everytime you connect after that it will just say 'Computer near by: Samsung E700', or something like that.
Anyway, you need to keep the File Manager CLOSED when you connect the E700, and let XP finish whatever its doing. And THEN open the file manager. I've found for some reason it won't work if you've already got the File Manager open before you connect to the IR. So try that, and if its successfull, when you open the file manager it should bring up the file download box or something like that (which it will do everytime you open it) and it will download the contents of your sim card to the PC.
Once its done that, it should allow you to send pictures and ringtones to the phone and recieve pictures and sounds from the phone by opening the file explorer (can't remember exactly what its called tho).
