View Full Version : Are You On Contract Or Pay As You Go
Myself I'm on two contracts with two phones...what's everyone else using....I don't pay for them though which is good my employer foots the bill which is handy when I'm on holiday calling all of my friends :)
Im on pay as you go with o2. I use the talk and text bolt on which gives me 50 cross network anytime mins plus 50 text messages.
I find this is more than enough for me.:p
I mainly use pay as you go "talkalot" with o2. I have a 50% off calls and texts bolt-on for £4.99 per month which gives me half price calls and texts to 3 numbers - 2 1/2p a minute peak-time and 1p a minute off peak & weekends. I must talk to the other half abour 2 hours a week and text her about 50 times so it really pays for me!!!
Also T-Mobile Everyone 200 on contract - occasional use only.

hey nick, would'nt it just work out cheaper to use your contract more often?
anyway, i use my O2 contract (used to be my T100, then I bought the 5100 pay & go and put my contract sim in it) most of the time for calls and texts. I'm on O2 100, which gives me 100 anytime, any network minutes and 100 texts a month free.
However, I all to often go over the minutes, so that's where my '3' phone comes in. I get far cheaper calls from that to other networks (25p/m) and picture messages are only 25p each. So, if i run out of minutes in a month, I switch to the 3 phone until the end of the month. I've got 2 O2 pay and go sim's as well, one of which is in my old 3210, but I dont use them anymore, tho I think there might be some credit in there somewhere.... :)
I've not worked it out but it may well do..
Thing is, T-Mobile signal down here is totally S**T!!!!

Hi Nick,
I am a new member so I,m not used to browsing on this lovely site so i,d appreciate any help if i get lost. I,m on PAYG with 3.co.uk. It,s cheap enough but what I dislike is if you don,t use your credit by the end of 30 days and say you have a fiver left you lose it. Same applies if you are on contract with 3pay. What do you think about this?
Hi snowdrop and welcome.
I personally think that for the amount of free CROSSNET calls you get (500 on a £25 topup) it's amazing value for money.
And yes if you don't use them all up within the 30 days you lose what is left - well I guess that that isn't so good, but you try and find a contract (other than on 3) that offers you a somilar package for the price.
I think it's good value, but would be better if they hadn't changed the vouchers from having 100 minutes for a £15 topup. I would rather have the 50 extra minutes than the £5 credit.
Everyone knows my views about 3. I hate them. But from what I hear their standards are increasing since I was with them. I'm on my orange PAYG that I have had for about 4 or 5 years now, I just upgrade the phone. However I am looking into going over to contract.
I'm on O2 Pay As You Go Online 'Talkalot', my sister and brother and most of my friends are as well. So long as we top-up with £10 a month we get free 300 texts (you get to use the £10 credit as well, it's not deducted). Calls drop after three mins from 25p to 5p on weekdays and from 25p to 2p on weekends. We used to take advantage of O2's free WAP, but not we get 1mb of free WAP every month. I guess the best thing is the sim card is, again, free to get on the o2 website. But the last time i checked they were out of stock.
im on contract with 3 :)
500 cross network, anytime mins for £15 a month under the 12 months half price line rental :) plus 100 texts.

yo, i'm on o2 pay as you go talk alot.
i buy the text bolt on, i used to buy 100 texts up front , but if i did'nt use em all up by the end of each month, i'd end up sending stupid messages to my mates just so that i got my moneys worth
so what is best o2 or t mobile im on t mobile and i have not got a clue about anything you lot are talking about bolt on whats that ?
I am on Basic O2 pay as you go, and intending to stay on that, unless i buy a new mobile phone that cant be unlocked to O2 yet:)

I prefer O2 personally, but if you are going to choose between the 2 just take into consideration whether you use text or calls more and which is cheaper. Also make sure you do some research into the reception quality in your area, because on O2 in my area I can't get any reception whatsoever. :(
thanks but i still am none the wiser as to what a bolt on is??
hello john
a bolt on is an 'extra' you can add to your tariff.....extra texts or wap mins normally, which are cheaper to buy in blocks rather than per text etc :)
I can't afford Contract. Aint gotta job.
