LG 7100 Unlocking

Im new to this so Im not too sure how it all works, Im looking to unlock my LG7100. I took it to a phone shop in my area the other day and they said it couldnt be done. Is this true?
If its not, can anyone tell me how to do it?
At the moment its locked to Orange and my IMEI No is:
351716-00-303737-7.

Thats rubbish, shops CAN do it.

Actually NO they can't, when most people thing of mobile shops or say mobile shops, they mean places like The Link, The Carphone Warehouse or dare I say it, Phones 4U. The ONLY mobile phone shops ANYWHERE that MIGHT do them are the independant retailers that are'nt part of a large chain.
So the impression that mobile shops can unlock phones according to this forum is somewhat mis-inturpreted.

The phone shop I went to is an Independent Retailer. They still said they couldnt unlock it.
The only reason I want to unlock it is that I was on a contract and when my contract finished I got an O2 sim card (the ones with the free texts) to put in my phone once Id got it unlocked. The man in the shop said to me "if we cant get it done in Manchester it cant be unlocked and we cant get it done in Manchester".
Can you tell me why the 7100 has been removed from the list of phones you can unlock temporarily?

The other LG phones that are listed in the 'sticky' post are all catered for in the SW that I have, but the 7100 is not, it needs some different SW, which a) I do not have, and b) I cannot afford.



"if we cant get it done in Manchester it cant be unlocked and we cant get it done in Manchester" I read that as saying WE CAN'T DO IT AND WE WON'T TELL YOU THE NAME OF SOMEONE THAT DOES.

I wil have a go to see if I can get hold of him some other way for you.

Thanx hun, the blokes in the shop did seem a bit arrogant with me, they wasnt helpful at all, god knows how they get the business.
I would be really grateful if you could try and get in touch with the man who has the codes. Thanx for your help.x
