With Nokia’s first foray into the games console market just around the corner, the latest Telecom One research says Nokia handsets are the most popular for players of Java mobile games.
Telecom One which runs three interactive TV channels, including TX1, a TV channel dedicated to mobile games (Sky Digital 689), gleaned data of the most popular handsets used to download games from the channel; Nokia phones have scooped the top three slots for seven consecutive months.
"Nokia has ruled the roost in the mobile gaming market over the last few months. Its nearest competitor, Motorola with its T720, only managed to get to fifth place in the chart," said Will Brown, chief technology officer, Telecom One.
“But it's interesting that the 7650 has fallen in favour within such a short space of time as the 3510i becomes more widely available,” Brown continued. “It just goes to show how dynamic the mobile handset market is and serves as a reminder to retailers, games developers and content aggregators alike that they must constantly adapt for the latest available handsets.”
