View Full Version : The Matrix 2 Phone
This thing looks awful, can't believe I've only just found this out why an earth did they use this in the film.
Check Here (http://www.mobile-review.com/review/samsung-matrix-en.shtml)
This is a contender for the worst phone you've ever seen thread. :)
Pass the bucket .... :vsad:

does look awful, but i bet it would be worth a fortune in the future as just a limited number were made
Yeah I suppose it would...
Still I would have thought for a futuristic movie as the Matrix, a more better looking model surely could have been thought up, then something that resembles something from a old star wars movie..
Is it seriously saying that this prototype actual worked
Near to 2004 where's all the futuristic watch phones ?
I thought Nokia would have something to show us as in Watch phones by now....
It seems we are still walking around with chucks of plastic in our hands (unless you are using a headset, I watched one woman looked like having a argument with herself in Tescos the other day)

their not trying to, it's a USA only, limited edition Samsung phone thats not availible in shops.
I know I'd buy one, it's pretty good once you get used to it, very unique and different, and it's got that really cool click n' slide mechanism for the ear piece :)

There is NOWT like it around,
It come from the best trilogy on Earth,
Its better than the 8110, but not by much.

That'd be good, but the 8110, although rarer than some, is not an exact replica of the Matrix phone.
When they made the phone for the Matrix they were trying to promote the new 7110 and it's slidingg keypad, but they did'nt even have a prototype ready, just some designs. So, due to time restrictions on the film, they just got an 8110 and bunged a spring-loaded mechanism into the slide (which before that was still the same slide, except you had to open it manually, no button or spring) and a small button to release it.
So, Nokia never actually made a true Matrix phone, just modded an existing model.
The same happened with the Reloaded/Revolutions phone that this thread started on, the Samsung. The brothers who created the films (can't remember how to spell their names :) ) made some designs and came up with what they wanted the ultimate Matrix phone to be like (in terms of looks), and they went to all the leading manufacturers, including Nokia, and they all said it was too physically difficult and that it could'nt be done. Eventually, Samsung, being all innovitive, decided they'd give it a shot and thats what the final product was. They whipped up some prototype dummy phone for the films and made a VERY limited number of working models for the American market.
Whats funny is, if you look closely in Reloaded/Revolutions you'll see that instead of having a colour Samsung screen like it's supposed to, it has a standard Nokia black and white interface with a green back light, it was a straight rip off of Nokia's menus
Anyway, I know I'll be getting one for collectors value once their more availible.

Yeah, on the DVD, there are the real adverts from the states advertising a working Samsung Matrix phone for you too buy, bu tlike you say, the one from the film doenst have a colour screen. I prefer it that way, 'cos it keeps the idea of a primitive real world, Zion, alive.
I know the 8110 doesnt have a flip, and even the Nk503 looks different, but with it being mono band, i cant unlock an 8110 to work on Orange, so i thought i would get the Orange version.
However, the two phones I'm bidding on looks like one of each, so quids in!!!!!!!!!!!
Ill post some pics if and when i get them. Definitely collectors pieces.
