I was wondering if anyone here can help me?
I am running windows ME and need a new keyboard, the keyboard which I have now is a usb which originally came with the pc. Every time I try to plug a keyboard with ps/2 the keyboard will not work, the same happens if I use a usb to ps/2 connector on this keyboard.
I cant understand why this is happening and wondered if anyone here has any advice as to what the problem could be?
When i try and use a mouse that is not USB i also have the same probs..........and its driving me daft

Well according to this link, ME has more problems than a problematic thing when it comes to installing new hardware and programs. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsme/support/bulletins/findingdrivers.asp

If I was you I would read this and check to see if there are any updates that need installing on your PC. Yes I know it will take ages to download anything on dial up but I would guess that you only need the drivers updating.

Good luck.

Thanks for that but have since found out its something that i need to alter in the bios. As i dont fancy fiddling around with this i will take the easy option and buy a usb keyboard.........easier than me messing things up.

Bunny somewhere in the bios it says boot with USB keyboard first or similar. I think that you just turn it off and it should work. :) I'll just check on mine first though. I doubt its an operating system problem.

Forget what i just said it looks like its just support for USB keynoard that can be turned on and i dont see how that should make any difference. There "should" be somewhere in the bios that does say about PS2 though. It may be the IRQ type thingy :) in other words i now dont know how to help you Bunny :(

When you first turn the computer on you have to either press TAB and then DELETE to get to the bios setup screen on boot up or just press DELETE. That should get you into the bios :) HAPPY FIDDLING :)

hhmmmmm just been reading about it on another site, think it will be wiser and cheaper for me to just get a usb keyboard.
