3G Americas (an industry organization focused on GSM and related technologies in the Americas) released a white paper detailing a new handset-based technology that can significantly boost GSM network capacity. The technology, called Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC), was shown in recent field trials to boost network capacity up to 70 percent in synchronous networks.
