View Full Version : Who owns a console
I have an X-Box and I definitely think its a step up from the PS2 especially with its online capability Live etc.... anyone else have any thoughts these and other consoles
Doesn't anyone have any consoles out there :conf:
I have a Super Nintendo. Nephew has N64, PS1, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance SP (courtesy of you) and wants a Game Cube next..

yay, thank you :)
ok then, I've got a Gamecube (like that was'nt blatently obvious :) ) and I think it's great, but I wish Nintendo would treat it's customers with respect, I wish the shops would treat it with respect, and I wish everyone else would treat it with respect. I mean, you even forgot to put it in this post, wish goes to show that 'casual' mainstream gamers who play games occasionaly and often dont spend days completing them in one go, dont consider the Gamecube as a modern console, and some dont even know it exists! But in my eyes, it's great. I love the majority of the games GC has to itself, like Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Zelda, Mario, Metroid, F-Zero. And i love the non-exclusives such as Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and Enter The Matrix. And anyway, i can never get used to the PS2/PS1 controllers, they drive me round the bend! The GC's buttons are all in just the right place for all games, and you NEVER acceidentaly press the wrong one. But the PS2 controllers are (in my opinion) clumsy and the analouge sticks are WAY to fluid, they need to stiffen up and have more defenition like the GC's ones.
ive got a er mega drive :)
had a dreamcast but games stopped being made and i got fed up with it though f355 challenge was one of the best racing games ive ever played

I never owned one but used to hire them from the local video shop for something like £2 for 2 days.
Nothing wrong with them ;) - Sonic the Hedgehog was a great game.
Could never get past Level 4 though.:pissed:

the Dreamcast still lives :)
I've got one, but it died (the machine itself, as in it will keep thinking the lid is open during a game, and take itself back to the Dreamcast menu bit :pissed: but the games rocked. And hundreds of people still play it as a main console. According to a recent survey, well over 100 people still log-on to and play Phantasy Star Online every weekend, so it just goes to show, does'nt it? :)
yeah i keep wishing i kept my dreamcast :(
Wish I'd kept the GBA SP!!!
BTW is there a Mario JAVA game to put on my 6100??

not that i can think of
if theres is, it's either break 100 million copyrights or it'd be a crap version that looks nothing like Mario : /
well i must say thet the nintendo gamecube is excellent i have lots of games but do not ever complete them i also have a gameboy advance SP and a nintendo gameboy (BRICK) and a ps1 so overall i think that the game cube is the best, i am backing up DEADALUS on this one:)
I wanted a Gamecube but after having a go at the playstation games that my friend had i have found out i cant control the figures properly, otherwise i would love one.

you chose against buying a gamecube, because you played some of your friends playstation games??

lol, ok then :)
But thats a bit of a snap judgement, is'nt it?
just because you played on your friends Playstation, it wont make you instantly bad at all games on all consoles will it?
Why not try some of the other. That, and Playstation controllers, ESPECIALLY when using the analouge sticks, can be tricky to get used to. Where as the Gamecube controler is far simpler and all the buttons rest naturally on your fingers. Why not give it a go on one of those in-store game pod things they have, and then consider getting one ;)
good idea:)
i just remember TRYING to control tomb raider and all i kept doing was being eaten or falling off cliffs:pissed:
I would really love to play mario or some little character like that, i see people on the tv controlling these things and think its easy! maybe i will have to buy one and practice more:)

yeah, Tomb Raider was always severally critisied for it's controls, and they can be bloody annoying for first timers. I should know, it was one of the first games i owned on the Playstation :)
what would be good game on the gamecube for a novice like me then? any recommendations?
Definitely a Mario game. All time classic!!!!!!!!!!!

nah, could be too hard for a first timer to be honest. i know it's a classic and it rocks, but i reckon he'll get bored of it quick.
I'd say something like....maybe Crazy Taxi? Just fast, simple racing involving picking up and dropping of passengers at high speeds :)
It really depends on what you think you'd like, like which genre of game. It's like films, theres some films you go see and some you wont because you like that genre (like Action, Comedy etc.) and it's similar with games. Have a look in the store if and when you buy one, and take your time looking for them.
Word of advice, when it comes to the games themselves, theres nothing wrong with buying them second hand from say Game or Gamestation, because if they dont work then you simply take them back. I've bought most of my games second hand from them, and they all work 100% fine everytime. Why fork out £40 for a game new when you can have the same experiance for £20?
And, big news. As of 10th October, the Gamecube will officially be only £79.99! Good or what?
I saw that...£80 for a Game Cube!!!!!!
Of course, my nephew has seen that and told me that for the price of a Gameboy Advance (innocently forgetting I gave him the SP I won on here) he could have a Game Cube. :bo:

if he wants it that bad, to add to his already huge collection, just tell him to buy it himself, that'll keep him quiet for a bit :)
He's 8.
Going to tell him to wait for the PS3 tomorrow. By the time he's saved up enough pocket money, he'll have forgotten all about them and be into women.
went into Game today to look for a console and they said wait till friday and the gamecube will be down to £80 or £100 with the Zelda game.......how good is that?
know whre i will be going friday.
i've got a game cube, i bought it for the game star wars rogue leader 2. i'm a big starwars fan and i just got have that game it so cool.
medal of honor front line is also a cool game :)
i don't have many games or have the change to play alot since i've always got tones of home work and i'm to bussy posting stuff on forums :)
im going to try and learn to play.....always watched other people so will have a go lol.
dont know what zelda is like tho.

it's good, but even I found it hard and would be just as diffiicult as Mario Sunshine, if not harder. Up to you really. My advice is rent a few games from Blockbuster or somewhere to try them first, and then buy the ones you like :)
oooo didnt realise you could rent them first.
Are they discs or cartridges?
Daedalus

lol
sorry, their all discs now
and i'm not even sure if Blockbuster will do them, all the bastards on the high street etc. are starting to refuse to sell Gamecube stuff :pissed: they instantly assume it's going the way of the N64, the narrow minded unknowledgeable arse holes :pissed:
just bought Luigis mansion looks hard but im going to have a good go.
Get XBOX and play XBox Live it rocks...beats all other consoles hands down for multiplayer action.....even my beloved PC
