View Full Version : Anyone else have this problem?
I have only had my Nokia 6610 for a week and was pleased with it up untill now.
Over the last couple of days it has started switching itself off and a couple of times i have had the message 'sim card error'.
Also the bottom left of the front cover has started lifting of from the mount even tho i have not removed it at all. I was wondering if there is a fault with this and should i return it as it is still under the fourteen day returns policy. Would appreciate your opinions.
Thanks once again
I'd definitely return it if its within the 14 day period, turning itself off etc....isn't a good sign of things to come.
Whetheer or not you get the same phone again is up to you.....sounds like you've picked up a bit of a duff one but I don't think its the norm with this phone.
Thanks fpr replying. I think i will return it, dont know if Carphone warehouse will let me have a different model but the probs i been having with this has certainly put me off it.
I like the features on it so is there another similar spec phone around the same price anyone can reccomend? (£180)
I find this forum excellent for advice so thanks once again.
Nokia 6100??
Kruger's T100??
Was it a sim free phone or on contract?? I know that Carphone Warehouse were doing it free on contract.
Ericsson T610 is only £150-160 on PAYG (Orange)
Or the Sagem MYX-6 (Between £100-130 on Orange again)
Sim free as i have no need for a contract.
Where is the SE 610 available on pay as you go for £160 from?

I do apologize bunnyone, it should have been the T310
What about a Nokia 3300 on Orange (158.99 - www.cyren-communications.co.uk/pay_as_you_go.htm) The Sagem MYX-6 is £104.99 - same site)

ok, thats the reason the 6610 was discontinued so fast, nearly all of them turned themselves off repeatedly in the first two weeks or so, but everyone who owns one says that after 2 weeks or so, the problem irons it self out, so your not alone.
And you can get the T610 for about £170 on Orange pay & go :)
see here : http://www.buzz-mobile.co.uk/pre-pay-handsets.htm
If it were me, i'd go for the T610, it's miles above the rest, and beats anything Nokia have created so far hands down :)
Not looking forward to going to Carphone Warehouse and trying to get an exchange or refund tho :ooo:
Just stand your ground.
You've got a faulty phone, they have to replace it or refund you.
But I bet they'll offer you a replacement rather than a refund..
Good luck anyway. Give 'em hell!!!!
:fire: :battle: :hammer:
If they offer you a replacement phone, they are doing the T610 for £199.99 (Orange PAYG) and if you make enough of a fuss they might let you have it as a straight swap.
Thanks Asphaltic :)
checked their website earlier on today but couldnt find the T610...maybe i searched wrong :(
wouldnt mind that for the same price..........will have to see what they say. If they offer to repair it i dont have to accept that do i considering i have only had it just over a week?
Your definitely entitiled to your money back, english law if its faulty 100%

a note about mobile phone retailers on the high street: their websites mean next to nothing. Our website, for the Link, is considered an entirely seperate store, and we have sooo many people coming in saying "oh, but it was cheaper on your website" and then you have you try and explain to them it's a seperate store, and then they act like it's your fault :pissed: but anyway, if you cant find it on their website i would'nt be suprised, your better off just going into the shop.
Oh what a day!!!
got to the carphone warehouse at 12.00 and explained the problem i was having to the staff and was told they did not have to do anything about this?????? but they would as a gesture of goodwill!!...........then the problems started. They didnt have a replacement to give me so i agreed to have a different model instead, however every model i asked for was not in stock including the 3300, the T610 and a few others, i then asked for a refund which they agreed to if i accepted it by cheque which would take up to 3 weeks to arrive. I asked why i could not have a cash refund and they told me to come back at 4.30 as they didnt have cash in the tills and it had to come from one till only, and only then if they had it!
After several return visits the assistant manager told us he only had a few pounds in the till so i decided to wait in the store, which caused a bit of embarrasment for them..........10 minuits later the salesman decided he had the full amount after all, so it only took me 3 hours to get my money back.
To cut a long story short i went to the orange shop and bought a nokia 3300 instead which came with a text saver and 3 months free wap access, so at least i have something which i am happy with.
thanks once again for all your help:)
Well done. Not got enough money in the till - bollocks!!!!
Let us know what you think of the 3300 won't you.
Glad we could help you... that's what we're here for.
Another satisfied customer..:) :) :)
Nice to hear a happy ending.....sounds like they grilled you for a bit trying to get you to change your mind....well done for holding out.........
:fire: Carphone Warehouse
When i asked if the 6610 had been discontinued they said not true.........just a rumor from the link (because apparently the link could not obtain stock) and it was in fact the 7210 that had been withdrawn due to software problems. Could be something to do with they did not have any 7210 in stock:(
Totally disallusioned that a big company like themselves could have acted in this manner:pissed:
I feel an email to head office comming on:bo:

pah, i doubt it would be that, i'd have heard that it was a rumour. Carphone warehouse is the ONLY high street store left that I know of that still does this phone. Infact, when I was looking at phones before I bought my 5100, I went to the Carphone Warehouse and they said yes it was discontinued and they had about 2 in stock at the store and 8 at the local warehouse. And yes, their wrong about the 7210 too, theres been few if any software bugs with the 7210, where as the 6610 had one main one (as you've seen). Just goes to show, dont trust sales reps (unless, like me, their a sales rep who can give his honest opinions online to the public instead of trying to get you to buy a different phone.
One thing we pride ourselves on at The Link is NOT bull-shitting to customers, or at least at our branch. We never tell rumours or lies, unless the source we heard it from was lying, but thats not exactly our fault now is it? :)
I have now sent an email to the 'head cheese' at Carphone Warehouse.......dont know if he will reply but iv'e had the standard 'we are looking into your complaint' e mail so i will keep you posted:square:
Any reply from these cheeses yet ??
just a load of old bullshit........
saying they appologised and yes the items were in stock at the store and their staff were going to be re evaluated in their customer care...........and blah blah blah.
They ended by offering to order me a SE T610...which were in stock in the store i visited anyway. As if i would give them custom again.
Well good on you for following through at least you have pre-warned others what they can expect...and thanks again for the feedback here keep up the good work :)

Just back from holiday so missed this thread.
It brings up some bad emotions!!!!! They managed to cut me off 3 times in 2 weeks and blamed it on me! I’d returned a faulty phone to have it replaced with the same model. This was within my 14 days. I remember after the third time, standing in the Kingston branch for over an hour before they sorted it. In the end the manager was very embarrassed as I was talking very loudly. I think I got some free equipment and a gift voucher. Now I visit the link!

Final got to the bottom of my in tray and have found a junk mail promo letter from ‘The Link Business’ offering a new business Value Tariff from £9.ex Vat. I assume from your earlier post in this thread that it is separate part again to The Link stores. It’s also not clear which network they are talking about. Do you have any more details?
Just discovered the above, which made me smile

if it's an old promo, check the date, it's proly now non-existant. but actually no, the post/mail's we send are valid to the shops, and not the online stores. anything to do with online is a seperate store, but circulars and junk mail is ours :)

There isn't a date on it. All it say is that I could get £30 of free accessories if I connect to 02 before 31/10/03
It's a good tariff but I can't use it here at work, as I would loose the saving we get from Vodafone Least cost routing.
Thank you.
