Unlock for Nokia 6100

First I want to say that this is absolutely the sweetest site regarding Cell Phones! Great Job!

Anyway I am looking for an unlock code for a Nokia 6100

Model: 6100
Type: NPL-2
IMEI: 352943/00/477226/0
Country: USA

This was purchased in Kuwait and the existing SIM card says VodaFone on it but I am not 100% sure what network they use.

I would like to use this on Cingular. Do you think it will work? I really hope so.

Evening.

I have had a look at the networks that the unlock program has for Kuwait, and the only one that comes up is MobileTelecoms MTCNet. I don't know if thats connected to Vodafone though.

If it is, then this code should work #pw+785320616375422+7#

Yes it is MTC. I was just about to edit the post and add that. I will give it a shot and let you know what happens.

Update: Okay It doesn't seem to work. i get a "Code Error" message on the display. I tried it twice just to make sure and followed the instructions in teh sticky thread.

I thought there was a limit to the number of times you can try. Is this true? Do you happen to have any other ideas?

Just a thought, have you tried another simcard in the phone? It may have already been unlocked.

You're allowed 5 codes before you have to get it unlocked with a cable. Was my code the only one you have tried so far? Or have you put any others in there?

I went to Cingular and they tried a SIM card but it never came up with service. One thought I had was that it wasn't compatible with the GSm here in the sates but I haven't been able to confirm that.

Your code was the only code that I tried but I tried that code twice.

The phone was in use in Kuwait but I am now in the US. I posted the country as being US. Would you have to enter the Counrty as bening Kuwait to generate the unlock code.

Also anyway to determine if it is already unlocked?

I used Kuwait as the country as that was where you got the phone.

But only try it once!!!!!!

Not that I can think of... I can ask someone on another forum to check the code for me if you would like me to.

Or maybe Cingular were right.....I just looked at the specs of the Middle East Nokia 6100s and the phone does not run on the GSM850 network. I think Cingular use that frequency, in which case it would not work with them.

Yes I am beginning to belive that is the case. Since I have already entered codes three times I think I will stop and just write this phone off befire I cause damage or force myself into paying a lot of money to get it unlocked.

I was poking around and it appears that it may be already unlocked because when I was at Cingular they did not get an error code with their SIM it just did not pick up signal which indicates to me that it is probably not compatible with their network.

No problem. Just a thought, has someone got a sim you COULD try (not a cingular one, maybe a Rogers or AT&T). Would seem silly to buy a new phone just to use it on one network...

Yes I do have a friend on AT&T. i will give that a shot. After playing with the phone I noticed it has an option to scan for networks and it picks up T-Mobile and AT&T so maybe that will work.
