Moto's can only be unlocked when the 'Motorola Server' is up, and it never is. So short answer, it can't be done. T-Mobile might possibly do it, but if you've just bought it on contract then they will refuse to do it for you.

However, if you bought it on pay as you go, and don't mind buying online, you can pick it up from www.expansys.com for £199 including P&P (it'll be an Asian import one but functions just like the UK one, except its unlocked and does'nt have that daft T-Mobile button on it).
Thats assuming T-Mobile will take yours back, their very picky about taking phones back with 14 days.....

Also, just a quick question, how are you finding the phone? Do you think the menu's are too slow? Do you think that the camera is slow at taking pictures (i.e. the time between when you press the button and it takes the picture)? I want to know because I'm hoping to get one eventually :)

easiest and cheapest way to unlock it then (if T-Mobile customer services won't do it themselves, tho they'll charge you about £20 minimum for it) is to take it back, get your money back, and buy it from Expansys, thats what I'm hopeing to do, because I don't want it locked, don't want the T-Mobile software filling it up and don't want that daft 'T-Zones' button.

i'll pay £20 for it no proble, do i jus phone customer services up then....would none of the High street shops do it for me, no?

no, High Street shops can't do it, places like The Link Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U (dare I mention them, yuck) won't do it because its almost illegal for them to charge to do unlocking.

And there is no physical connection or any codes that can be generated by anyone else that will unlock Motorola's anyway. Without a doubt their the hardest phone manufacturer to unlock. Even T-Mobile might not be able to do it, or might not want to.
