View Full Version : Nokia 3510i Wavs
Is it possible to convert a .wav sound effect to play on a Nokia 3510i to use as a ringtone or sms tone ?
I'm just about to receive my first Nokia 3510i Mobile + Data Cable,
Before I use to use a Samsung T100 and easly made quite a lot of sound effects using PSM Player by converting small wav files to .mmf
The reason I gave up on a T100 was I found texting was bad on it as it was too slow and arkward and the buttons being too small..
So I'm not sure if this is already possible, if it is please excuse me for not knowing...
Thanks for any help .... :)
BTW : For a few midi tunes and images check out my web page:

Hi Quake welcome to the forums....
Not too sure on this I'm afraid but I'll do some investigation for you and post back...
I know how you feel about the T100 thats what I have at the moment and one of my biggest hates is the lack of speed when doing anything on it.....
Your excused for not knowing :) if you don't know feel free to ask, thats why we are here :)
Just checked you page and its great to have another mobile enthusiast here :)
By the way only 28 more posts to do in 4 days and your in the draw for the DVD player :)

Nope, not possible.
The 3510i, like the majority of Nokia's with polyphonic ringtones only support 4 tones at a time, where as the T100 supports 16. so sorry, just standard midi files, which by the way are a real bitch to convert from standard midi's to nokia's sp-midi files, so good luck :)

So what software do I need to convert normal Midi Files to Nokia's own format :conf:

Nokia Data Suite is what i've been using. Seems to work 'ok'. But because most MIDI files use about 10 or more notes, you'll have to experiement with them and considerably strip them down to make them fit into the phone as 4-tone MIDI's. Usually, they sound crap if it's meant to be a regognizable tune, because you would have stripped it down from 16 notes to 4 notes.
By the way, if you've got a bunch of .mmf files left over from your T100, use PSM Player to convert them to MIDI's and then you can use them. Infact, PSMPLayer is quite good for selecting individual notes and choosing which ones you want to delete, so thats another alternative.
