Can anyone please explain what WAP is.

Wireless Access Protocol

its a way for your phone to connect to WAP sites that are formatted for reading on phones and the like

Is that so you can send emails etc to other phones or computers.

sometimes, e.g if you have a yahoo account you can log onto it once you are on wap and send and recieve mails that way.

The wap is just like a mobile phones version of the internet in that you can download games and ringtones depending what phone you have.

Wap pages are nowhere as good as the internet that you would access from your pc as the pages have to be written especially for the wap service, so if you imagine a basic and i mean very basic version of the internet that you can view on your phone you will have some idea, but dont forget most service providers will charge you for accessing wap and it can work out quite costly.
