T-Mobile USA will today start selling a colour-screen version of the Sidekick device designed by wireless platform start-up Danger, Inc. The network operator has already been selling the original, greyscale version for eight months.
The new device includes an integrated AOL instant messaging application and support for AOL e-mail.
T-Mobile is introducing two new pricing options to support the launch of the new Sidekick. Users can pay USD 20 per month to receive unlimited data usage, in addition to a regular voice plan. Alternatively, users can pay USD 29.99 per month for unlimited data, and pay a flat-rate of USD 0.20 per minute for voice calls.
"The early success of the T-Mobile Sidekick really speaks to the device's innovative design and simple user interface - it's the ultimate way to communicate whether it's by voice, email or AIM," said Nick Sears, vice president of consumer products for T-Mobile USA, Inc. "Now with a colour screen and simple rate plans, there's never been a better time to get a T-Mobile Sidekick and see for yourself what the buzz is all about."
