Read a message without opening my phone

Just got a text from one of my friends.

Without opening my LG, I used the volume button on the side of the phone to scroll down and read the message on the front screen :)

Me neither, I only discovered it by accident...cos I just grabbed the phone and my thumb hit the button

Have since found out you only need to press the button once, it automatically scrolls down the message then reverts back to the clock display.

My Moto can do similar things, but usually by fluke. Like if I send a text, and close it as soon as I've pressed send, it'll vibrate/ring when its sent it, then it'll say so on the external screen. Same for when you recive them sometimes it'll let you browse around, but not read it.

It works well with the auto-timer feature on the camera. Set the timer to 5 or 10 seconds, press capture, close the phone, watch the countdown on the external screen, wait for it to take the pic and it'll say what the file name is, then once thats gone your left with the normal 'Send, copy, move, rename' etc options that you've have on the inside! Shame that you can't select any of them when its closed tho :(
