I nearly fainted when I received this month’s bill. :bo: (For those of you who don’t know I manage the company mobile phone account. In short 48 contracts)
This month, one of our employee’s individual call cost was just a little over £600. :shout: (It’s never been over £200 before. Big jump) Most of this expense was for roamed calls.

Has anyone found away to get cheap roaming calls? Especially in Ireland.

if your on an O2 contract, call them and ask to have 'International Traveller Service' or something like that added to the contract. It costs about another £1.50 on-top of your current bill, but suposedly it cut's the costs down by up to 80% is some cases. Word of advice tho, try warning the employees just how expensive it can be to roam abroad. We've had several customers who are business men/women and they have no idea about call costs, they just use it regradless and pay the bill at the end of the month, and then winge when it's too high :/

They all know when their bill is expensive as they get a letter congratulating them that they are top of the board. (This was not my idea!!!!) But I have also warned those who travel, that it is expensive.

It's a Vodafone account and they have the International option added. I’m thinking of buying Irish Vodafone contracts for those who go to Ireland. What do you think?

could be the answer, or get them to use land lines instead if they can :)

I'll look into it and let everyone know what I find out. Not always possible to use landlines as our Sales Managers are visiting Department Store and Chemists. They all seem to be very funny in allowing others to use their phones. I wonder why?

I have never seen a sales rep with a bag of 10p's in their car before. Their cars are like their offices. And with all the junk they have laying on the seats, they'd never find them anyway!!

It show's how long it is since you've used a public phone. You have to use 20p now!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, if both my mobiles are dead of battery (unbelivably, it's happened before..) i use either a small fortune in calls on a pay phone, my mates mobile, or i do a reverse charge call from a pay phone :D

All the landlines over here are free - if I dial a 416 area code to another 416 area code I don't pay a single cent. Also include are certain areas on the 905 area code.

And if you use a public phone it only costs a quarter and you can be on the phone as long as you like in real money thats 5 pence.

most provider halt the international roam function if you subscribe in monthly payment.
