Have been trying to send a couple of mp3 files to my nokia 6230 via usb adapter but when it gets half way thru it comes up with an error message not enough memory i understand the memory in my phone needs to be upgraded as i have the memory stick that the phone come with, i am just thinking i have win rar on my computer but when i right click on the file the only option it gives me is to compress the file and email is there any other way around this problem, i have a couple of short video clips (approx 3min in lenght each) if i delete these video clips do you reckon my phone will accept the mp3 file without the error message. I am not a computer wizard so if anyone can help i would appreciate if you can explain in the simplest terms thanks for any help in advance.

You need to make sure that your sending the files to the memory card and not the phones own memory. I'm not sure personaly how to do this, but it sounds like thats it.
No your can't compress them using WinRAR or anything like that. Its easier to buy a larger memory card for it.
Had a similar problem the other day when I was bluetoothing to another phone (which happened to be a 6230 too).
can you not use something like the cheetah audio converter to make the files smaller before transferring them?
the link for it is here......

is it easy to compress mp3 files and would compressing them alter the quality cheers!
it is easy with the correct software to compress mp3's, the quality depends on how small you compress them and also to some extent the device which you are sending them to. Give one a try send it to your phone to see if it can be transferred and have a listen to see what the audio quality is like :)
I have found that converting mp3's to wma does not affect the quality very much but halves the size of the file, but i dont know if your phone supports wma? i doubt it?

i've downloaded cheetah but i dont see an option for compressing mp3 or any file format for that matter can you point me in the right direction thanks!
i havent got it installed anymore as i used to use it for my mp3 stick player but i have a HDD now so dont use it but i will try and remember.....you find the track you wish to convert from the right hand pane and drag and drop it over to the left hand pane, at the top of this pane you will see a button with convert ( i think) on it....highlight the track that you have dragged and dropped and hit the convert button, remembering to choose what file format from the top (left hand side box) and also what compression rate, if you choose to convert to wma i think the default will be around 64 (cant remember what the letters are lol, think it is kbps? but im not sure that format will be accepted on your phone.
You follow the same procedure to make an mp3 smaller i think, you just select a smaller file size compression rate instead.

just under the green convert button there are four options "format channels frequency bitrate i've tried dragging and dropping a selected file that is already an mp3 file and lowered the bitrate to the smallest it will go in the format box it obviously says mp3 because i dont want to change this the other two boxes (channels and frequency i've not touched but as i say with the last drop down box i have lowered the bitrate to the smallest it will go(96 kbit) can you tell me from memory if i am doing the right thing thanks
it sounds like yes :) select the folder you want it copied to as something different than my music as i found i could never find it once converted...i set up a folder for mine and called it something like converted tracks (original or what lol).
give it a go and then compare the original file with the converted one and you should see a fair bit of difference in the filesize :)
