View Full Version : 3220 won't connect to PC
Am having probs getting a Nokia 3220 to connect to my PC with a data cable.
I followed the links to getting the correct drivers using the info in the thread about bunny's 7600 as reference), but I still can't get it to connect. There's no other way to connect the phone cos it doesn't have BT or IR!!!!!!!!
Would the bluetooth stuff I have on here for my Moto be interfering with it? It seems that the bluetooth SW has installed a load of 'virtual' ports (com 4 to 15) , but I have the data cable plugged into the actual COM4 port.
dont tell me you are using the nokia pc suite?
After the probs you had with it Sarah I decided to steer well clear of that.
Am using a trial version of Oxygen Phone Manager. I used to use it when I had a 6100 but I don't remember having any problems like this before. To coin one of your sayings, it's driving me daft :frown:
this is so frustrating, especially when the 3220 is such a cracking phone, i just dont understand why on earth they havent put at least ir on there.
I think you have to make sure you select the right comm port.....i think mine was supposed to be 5 or something like that, and the distructions told me to make sure the drivers were installed before i installed any other software, the drivers when i installed them took ages to complete after i had plugged the cable in...is it a DKU-2 you are using?
It's the cable that the lad at work gave me with the phone. I don't think it's a genuine Nokia cable but one that he picked up while he was out in his lorry.
Maybe thats the problem, but he did say that it worked OK on his PC (before it packed up).
mine is an original and that has only worked twice and that was by chance, i did read somewhere that the non originals are even harder to get set up than the genuine ones.
What are you trying to do send pictures? cos if i were you i would MMS them its far easier lol.
Yea I think you'll need the DKU-5 (i think that's what its called) cable.
And I think Nokia PC Suite. But I didn't try it yet cause I don't have the cable. You can download PC Suite from the nokia.com but other than that I cannot tell you what to do since I don't have the cable.
Trying to put some pics that I have copied off the net for him onto it (he's a car nut), along with...erm.. that FROG tone!!!!!!!!!!!
I will uninstall the BT software I think, and then try it. It's easy enough to reload the BT stuff back on anyway.
just an idea but wouldnt it be so much simpler to upload the pics you have copied to zedge and then download them via wap to the phone?
 I never thought of that.
If I put them onto my account...
You're a star!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take bunny's advice mate and DON'T USE THE NOKIA SOFTWARE!!!!!! YOU WILL HAVE NO END OF PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!!
lot easier me thinks than uninstalling your BT....failing that mms them to the phone if you have free mms on your moto :)
All sorted.
I 'zedged' them onto the phone.
Cheers for that Sarah :)
Managed to get it connected to the PC with the cable.
Took a long time as the Bluetooth SW had created loads of virtual ports but I managed to find one that did nothing, so it's now working OK.
And have also got the Nokia S40 Theme Creator software for the Nokia forum. Haven't looked at it yet, but will be trying it over the next few days.
