A couple of guys at work have just got T610 on Vodafone. Not sure what the contract details are, its some sort of business contract, but we are told by the supplier that it should be all set up and able to use the internet and e-mail facilities.

We have set up Vodafone e-mail account on their web page and gone through the process of getting the phone settings sent by sms from the web site, but cannot get connected to either e-mail or anything else. It constantly says "connection failed".

Our supplier has been telling us for a week that this is due to a problem with the Vodafone network. This seems unbelievable - is he right, is anyone else having a problem, or are we being given duff information?

Are the phones branded to the Vodafone Live system as this has been known to cause problems.

I have some WAP settings that you could try shown below. Please note that these are for Nokia but it may be worth checking things like IP address, user, password...etc

No, they aren't branded. We have been on a contract with Vodafone for a couple of years, and the handsets have just been upgraded by the supplier from old Nokias to the T610's. We have put the old sim cards in the new phones and all works fine, except the WAP & e-mail.

Surely if there is a nationwide Vodafone problem with these services we would have heard someone else complain about it?

Thanks for the suggested settings, will try that later. Can't understand why it's not working though - all the literature and web sites say just get the settings sent by sms (which we have done) and then it should connect...

How long have you had the sim cards for? The older there sim the less likely you can do all the up-to-date stuff.

Have a look at your sim card. How does the last line read?

Try and find out what their business tariff is as that could be a problem. A lot of the customer service guys at Vodafone don't understand the business add on.

in 9 out 10 cases, thats the problem. Old sim cards need to be either upgraded or enabled correctly. The chances are it's the same problem I have with mine. I purchased a T100 over a year ago on O2 contract, and the phone did'nt support GPRS or MMS. So, as a result it was never activated on my account. In April i purchased a Nokia 5100 on pay & go and put my sim card in it, and it worked, except the GPRS and MMS. I called O2, asking them to enable it and they said "your phone does not support GPRS, so we can't" because they still believed I was using a T100.
A similar thing happened to 2 friends of mine, which is more likely to be the case with yours. They had old O2 and Orange sim cards and because of the age of the cards, they were not compatible entirely with GPRS. As a result, they had to be activated by O2 and checked by O2 through a more thourough procedure than a standard activation. They both now work properly, so that could be the case with yours.
