I was in the pub last night, when a chap came in with his nokia phone, saying that he could use it to detect police speed radar traps! He showed me the phone which had a flashing icon and a counter, and he said that the phone bleeped with increasing frequency as you approached the radar. I want to know if he was pulling my leg, or if this is true, and how would go about getting this facility. He said that it worked for all nokia phones. Any ideas??:)

I have seen this posted with the menu sequence to turn it on. Its not rubbish, but its not any phone either. I would do a tour of the forums searching for Radar.

I doubt very much that this would work with any mobile bought off the shelf. Radar detecters search for a specific signal given out by the detector. I can't really believe that anyone can actually prove this works on a standard Nokia without heaviliy modifying the phone by integrating a real detector into it.

I could be wrong but until I've seen one in action I'm staying sceptical :)

Welcome to the forums by the way moby, I've been an admirer of you work for the disabled on your website and I'm glad you've found your way here. :)

theres no mobile I'm aware of that does it.
Did he actually say it was a mobile or did you assume it was because it was handheld, small and had a display on it? Could easily be mistaken if you don't know your phones.
