View Full Version : Help! Female in trouble
I currently own a samsung t100 mobile and have paid money for ringtones for this phone, i will be, in the next few days, getting a samsung v200 so is there anyway i can transfer these ringtones either to my pc or obviously the phone somehow without paying another £2.50 for each tone.
Any help on this matter would be much appricated.
Thanks

Always willing to help a female in trouble. :)
The T100 I believe comes with connection software to the PC. If you connect the phone up you should be able to browse the phone and download the tones...and then visas versa when you receive your V200. I don't believe that you can send this through any other way no IR etc... on T100.
i tried connecting the phone but although i can get tones from the cd or harddrive i cannot do the other way and put tones on the pc at least i couldn't see how to
When you connect do you see a phones memory from the PC with all of the current ringtones in it. If so what format are they and can you do anything with the list. Any screen shots you can take and post would be handy.
I cant seem to get a screenshot so i will try and describe it.
At the top left it says name: Location: download: delete:
The locations available are 1 to 12 which are the phones memory. Below that is a list of the current ring tones that i have on my phone. I can highlight these but cannot drag or right click only seem to have the option to delete.
On the right there is just a load of folders where the tones are stored on the cd and a drop drown arrow which leads me to my docs etc.
Hope this helps
Did you save the ringtones in the downloadable memory 1-12 or overwrite some pre installed ones. I'm just guessing here but it may be that if they are not in the 1-12 memory you can not download them.
Definately in the 1-12 as the tones that were overwritten were originally downloaded from the cd for the pc
Mmm running out of ideas I'm afraid and I have this phone....I'll dig a little deeper...see what else I can find out...

Kruger, you've had a T100 for ages, as did I, and you still don't know that you can't upload from the phone to the PC?
It's not possible to do I'm afraid, the software and data cable are only capalbe of uploading to the phone, not from it.
Same goes for the V200, which also comes with a very very similar cable and software.
Why pay £2.50 per ringtone tho, if you can upload your own to the phone using the datacable, thats what it's there for
@ Linzi.
The firmware on the T100 can be changed (menu pics, tones etc.) and by using a program called GFX editor, the firmware could be saved on a PC. I used to change the firmware on my phone regularly and was always chopping and changing the tones about. But it's been a long time since I owned a T100.
Now if the V200 firmware can be altered, then there may be a way to do the same. I'm not sure how its done with this phone but I'm sure it's possible to do.
Have PM'd you.:wicked:
@ Daedalus.
Correct, it's not possible to upload to the PC.
@ kruger.
There's a few WAP sites that allow you to overwrite the tones you are talking ablut (the 1-12 tones).
I wanted some new tones that are in the chart, they not on my cd i do not know where else i could get them.

theres plenty of places about on the net, their just very hard to find. Plus you can convert a different type of more common file (.mid or .midi) into Samsung tones (.mmf). But, i have'nt owned one in a while, so i can't be sure of where they are really.

Use PSM player. That should be freely available. It's very good, cos as Daedalus says, you can take a 4 chord polytone (Nokia) and transform it. :wicked:

i did'nt mean take a 4 chord nokia tone, their crap to begin with :)
i meant download .mid and .midi files from the internet.
Sorry Daedalus, read it wrong.
You could search for MIDI files, download them to your PC, then use PSM player to comvert them to MMF and then upload them to your phone using the cable and Samsung software.
It worked a dream on the T100, should do on the V200.

ok, you can get PSM Player from here: http://www.encoderx.co.uk/votepsmplay.html
and you can get .midi files from here: http://hrisunko.search.bg/
and here:http://gavshome.tripod.com/midis/#gdzip
and here:http://www.findmidis.com/
all pretty good places, if not totally up to date. Once you've got PSM Player, use it to open one of the .midi or .mid files you've downloaded and go to 'File' and 'Create SMAF', then click on 'SMAF 16 Chords (EZweb) for ringtones for your T100, or click on 'SMAF 40 Chords for ringtones for your V200. The 40 chords has never really worked for me, but the 16 chords will work fine on your V200 to my knowledge. Once you've made your selection, just click on OK and choose a place to save it, and give it a name. Then, using Samsungs software, just upload it like you would from your CD.
