new nokia

was looking for a new phone for my daughter today and was looking at the Nokia 2100 and the Nokia 3100 and wondered what you all thought about them?
I know the 2100 seems a bit basic, and the standby was quoted as from 55 hours to 150 hours so wondered if anyone had any feelings on both or either?
opinions would be most grateful especially from Daedalus?

ok, well the 2100 is meant to be a very basic phone, it's what Nokia have marketed it as. It's not bad, but you can do better. We have'nt had any come in yet, so i'm not sure on the price, but the features are not really any better than say a 3410, just in a far more compact package.
The 3100 on the other hand, is a totally different barrel of fish. From what i've heard/seen/read it's a great little phone, with a 4096 colour screen, polyphonic ringtones, a fairly compact design, compatible with Nokia's attachable cameras, has Java and has a great light up feature, so when people ring it vibrates with the music and small white lights light-up all over the phone, not just on the screen and keys. So quite a nice little phone in all, and quite a step up from the 2100, but at still quite a nice price.

Thanks for the info Daedalus, daughter is now the proud owner of the 3100, and as you say it is a lovely phone especially for the price.

Not bad, I like mine for day-to-day simple phone use, as it lacks many of the 'techy' features I want.
Do you still use your 3300 tho, that's a pretty good phone too, so you might want to use both :)

I think hubby bought me the 5100 as he has always had his eye on my 3300, and surprise surprise he wants to get rid of his 3210!!!
I adore this 5100 tho and out of the two even though i havent had much chance to play with it yet design wise i think its brill.

heh, true.
well, sortof. Me and Dale were 'playing' with my 5100 this morning (it's insured so it does'nt matter if i break it :) ). But when i say 'playing' I should have said light kicking and throwing it about ;)
And I had to pay the price, as one side of the top half of the case on the inside that holds it onto the phone has snaped right off, so it wobbles a bit. Nothing serious so far, just a bit loose, thats all, but I'm regretting it, even tho it's insured...
