sad, but I think everyone was prepared for it seeing the condition he was in.

Have been following it on the news on TV and on Google news.

I remember when he first became pope in 1978/9 and when he got shot in '82.

He did amazingly well to hang on to life the last 24 hours given that his body was shutting down. Very resilient guy who wasn't going to give in easily.

He will be sorely missed by lots of poeople around the world be they Catholics or other religions.

I'm not one for religion but he did do a lot of good, the next pope will have some work to do to try and match him.

I agree. I'm not one for religion either, but I'm watching the procession now and the whole thing is making me very emotional. Sad.
