View Full Version : D500...... Help Pleaeaeaeaese!!!!
Hi,
I tried using the unlock code discovered by nick for my new d500 but can't get it to write the letter w by pressing the star key 4 times. All I get are four stars, although I found out that if I press the star key long enough, the letter p comes up. What do I do now? Should I do it sim-less or sim-full??? Anybody mind helping out a hopeless mobile phone illiterate?!!! You practically have to talk me thru it step by step :whacky:
thanks

I did it on a friends Orange D500 with the Orange sim in and it worked, but the older ones (the first ones out) are the only ones that will work with this code, the newer ones work.
So, if it does'nt enter properly then it won't work on your phone and it cannot be unlocked yet.
Oh No!!! That means I have to go and shell out money to do it, right? Thanks a lot for your help though. Maybe mine's too new like u say.
Anybody else have any ideas for me?!! I am desperate!

hi sherry,
what was the code you tried, i'm having problems trying to un-lock mine.
hope you can help
tommy
Here's some clarification in the problem of unlocking Samsung D500's.
I have one with a build date of 23 April 2005 which is locked to Orange UK. As expected the code mentioned on here for older D500's doesn't unlock this newer model - code referred to is #*7337#.
If you need to establish what your phone build date is use the code -
*#8999*8378#
this all in one Code gives lots of useful information - scroll to 'Production' and select - you will see your production date.
If you use this code:
*#8999*8376263# you will see on one screen your hardware version and date and software version. I believe the hardware date shown here is not your phone's build date - for build date use the code shown above.
For those of us like 'Sherryt' fighting with their phones to input the letter w by continually pressing the star key - it doesn't work!!! Hold the star key and you will certainly get the letter P but you can hold it in all day and all you will get is a sore finger - even if you shout at the same time - it still doesn't work!!
Bottom line is that we are no further forward in our quest to outwit the Network code yet but hopefully someone will come up with a solution soon.
The alternative is to go to another website and pay for your code - around £4.50, but I have been informed that even on the newer versions of the D500 these codes don't always work :-(
Any further help greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Orange user who wants unlocked!!

That means my D500 was 'born' on the 3rd January 2005 at 21:23 ;)
Hot Update - if you want to unlock your Orange D500 to allow you to use an o2 sim - read this quote from a web site that sells remote unlocking codes for the D500:
"Orange D500's cannot use 02 network once unlocked due to error in Orange firmware. Phone Needs To Be Flashed to Correct This Error"
Basically this means 're-installing' the phone software and as far as I am aware this can only be done using a cable - This Flasher software is offered for sale as a de-brand pack at around £25 (ouch!!)
Maybe we could all group together to buy one pack - suggestions??
