Well done Az! :) :)
I remember my first lesson, scary as hell really, I'm on about my 6th or 7th lesson now and its still really scary :)
Im doing lessons, had my 11 & 1/2 earlier. It went okay, bit of a mixed bag. Got a few problems I need to overcome, such as getting distracted. Someone was pulling out of their drive and my instructor said "She's letting us past, or maybe its a he" and I was too busy trying to figure out the gender that I enarly crashed into them.
All in all its going okay. Just the price, eek.

That were I kinda get let off easy heh ;)
My parents, best friends brother is a semi-qualified driving instructor (he's taking his instructor test in May) so he needs the practice before his test so he gives me and my brother free driving lessons :)
Difference is while most of you prolly got stuff like your parents buying the car, or some of the insurance, or a whole bunch of lessons or even the tax, I got none of that, bought the car ourselves paying the insurance ourselves (ahem, almost :) ), so the free lessons kinda makes up for it :)
Well done mate - I remember mine all those years ago ... sighhh I'm getting old...oh well bet you can't wait to pass your test fingers crossed.
sighhh I'm getting old....
How do you think I feel then?????
My first driving lesson was back in 1989.... a quick 'get used to the car' then off to the most difficult junction in Brighton!!!!!!!!! ANd yes I ballsed it up (stalled right in the middle of it :slick: ).
Well done though Az, keep on going, things get easier with time

I was soooo nervous on my 1st lesson ,i took 2 tranquilizers, not recommend,
by the sounds of it i think i was probably a lot older then you are when i learnt and wish I'd done it when i was 17.
I passed my test in 1991 on my first test and everyone including my instructor told me i was going to fail :( so i proved them all wrong  but apart from my first few leasons which were my birthday present a had to pay for my own lessons and buy my car and pay the insurance which was more than i paid for the car

I know how you feel, same thing here. That applys to any young driver under the age of 25 though. Its the idiots that zoom around at 100 miles an hour after their license have been revoked that give us all a bad name, therefore making the insurance companys assume none of us can drive :(

Nope. Lessons, car, insurance, petrol, MOT, tax. Gotta pay for all of that. Its not that my parents are harsh or anything but if my parents were to pay for it my brothers would expect the same. Its why im not getting a car, I just wanna pass the test.
Also, cant bung it onto my dad's insurance or use his car, as its a company car/insurance. Although when they go on holiday its going to be veeeery tempting.

Nice to hear some people are in the same boat then. It just seems that everyone around my area have been given it to them on a plate. Thats the other thing, I can never go on either of my parents insurance because they've built up too much no claims to loose and their cars are, well nearly new and the last thing they want is me ripping about in a 1 year old Polo or a 1 year old Saab 95 Aero lol
Yeah the majority of my friends have had something paid for them. One got a car given to her and lessons for free (cause her dad is an instructor) but theres an amusing story behind the car giving (which I wont go into) so I feel she deserves it. Plus she gives me lifts ^_^.
Actually theres only one of my friends who bought everything himself, but he is a 22 year old teacher so you know, needs to grow up.
