thought id post this :) ..........

Sony's PlayStation Portable device (PSP) has finally got a launch date in the UK after months of delays.

The handheld multimedia gadget will be released here and elsewhere in Europe on September 1, priced at £179 or €249.

It has been on sale in Japan since last December and hit the shelves in the US in the United States since March. But European gamers have been forced to wait until Sony can manufacture enough PSPs to meet expected demand.

The European launch will include a number of accessories and a copy of the film Spiderman 2.

"We've always said we would launch it when we had sufficient quantity for the initial launch period and for continuity of supply thereafter," a Sony spokesman said.

Sony sold half a million PSPs in the first two days after the American launch and has sold more than one million units in Japan.

Several companies are already exploiting the impatience of European enthusiasts by importing the gadget from Japan and America and selling them on at much inflated prices.

6 months behind the DS, looks like Nintendo might have a turn of good luck.

Then again you know why Sony have done it dont you? One word: Christmas.

It was ready months ago, they got it in Japan back in December and I'm guessing they thought it'd sell poorly if they sold it mid-year. Another reason I dispise Sony, the fact that they prey on peoples pockets first and foremost.
