View Full Version : Can't read a 6230 MMC
My mate at work has given me his 32MB MMC card cos he wanted me to put some music on it for him.
But my card reader won't read his card!!!!
I checked that it wasn't the card reader with my Transflash card and my RS-MMC card and it read them perfectly. All the cards fit into the same slot on the reader, so is it his card thats knackered? It works perfectly in his phone...

It probably needs to be formatted to work with a PC rather than a Nokia phone, Nokia MMC's are formatted by default for Nokia phones rather than PC usage, so it'll need to be re-formatted. Short of doing that on the phone I dont know.
Alternatively, and if I remember rightly from when I tried it, you MIGHT be able to squeeze it into the RS-MMC slot in your 7610, one of only 2 nokia phones that can take the normal MMC's without modding (the other being its clone the 6670). It'll go in enough to read it, but you might have to leave the battery slightly loose and the back cover off to do it. Then format it from within the phone, possibly.
is it password protected ? because if he set password on his phone then the mmc will be ok in his phone, other than that it wont work in readers etc.
He swears that he never set a password (and he didn't even know where to put a password cos he doesn't play about with his phones, unlike me   ).
He has had the phone from new.
I tried the password function on my 7610 and set one up. To test it, my thinking was that if I went to 'format card' it would ask me for the password.
OOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!
