 i recently bought a nokia 6230 off a car boot sale, i was told it was a contract fone but would work fine with vodafone pay-as-you-go sim card...
used the fone for a couple of days and i decided to list on ebay...sold the fone and the guy who bought it used it for 3 days and then tells me it wont work saying " the phone has been barred (sim card registration failed) from the network" is it possible that the fone has been barred or would it be his sim card?????

well baffled

It does sound possible that the phone has been barred. If it did work for three days then it doesnt suggest that his sim is playing up, ask him if he has got another sim to try in the handset.

If it has been barred then there is nothing you can do about it.

If the phone was a contract phone and whoever had it didn't pay their bill then the network could bar the IMEI, effectively making the phone as useful as a paperweight.

Or the phone could have been reported as stolen, in which case it would be barred also.

If the phone has been barred there is no way to get it unbarred. The imei is the phones serial number and changing this number with illegal software is highly illegal and something that we wont help you with here.

If the person who you bought it off hasnt paid their bill or has just reported it stolen out of spite then there is nothing at all you can do sorry.

As you say it accepts other network sims so it sounds as if its already unlocked.
