View Full Version : Phishing
This really makes me angry :uptight: I know i do a fair amount of comps and i am really careful which ones i do and who i give my email addy to etc, but the last month or so i have been getting loads of phishing emails .....despite using yahoo's anti spam filter to hide my real addy i get mails that dont even contain my real addy, just addresses which are close enough to the real thing :(
Its now getting to the stage where i dont even forward them to the real banks as i am getting so many of them. Anybody know how to stop them?
I get around 300 mails a day so just one every couple of days may not seem much but its really starting to bug me :(
300 mails a day!!!!!!! Lucky if I get 3 a day
These phishing mails are becoming more and more frequent. I read somewhere that a mail might be sent from, say, www.barclaycardz.com (to others, don't click on this its not a real addy) and when it opens the page is near identical to the real one.
If I ever get something that I think is one I don't even open it, I just block the sender then report it as spam to the mailbox provider.
A lot of people get caught out with things like this i should imagine, thats why i wont enter comps from certain sites that i know sell your email addy....it seems certain people will try anything to catch you out.
I have always done a lot of online shopping and i use online banking also, but it makes you think twice this sort of thing :(
I do the online banking but can't do online shopping as I don't have cards.
And I never log on to my bank from any links, I always type in the addy myself.
But I didn't know that mail addys were sold....
thats why i have about 60 email accounts, i never send anything that can lead to spam to my main accounts

Thats what I'd recommend doing bunny, although maybe not 60 accounts..... ;)
I tend to have 2 or 3. One for general use and one or two for if I want to sign up for something or send away for something, that way any junk I get is on the one I don't bother with too much.
But 300 e-mails a day and only a few are junk? Blimey!
