Caller ID not working on text messages

A friend of mine has just bought a 6600 off ebay and is very happy with it, only problem is that although caller ID is working fine when she recieves a call, all her incoming text messages have a phone number at the top instead of the name of whoever it is. any ideas as to what setting is wrong?

Has she stored her names in the phone book or on the sim card? when i had this problem with Orange i was told it was because i had my numbers stored both on the phone AND the sim card, dont know if this is the same problem but its worth checking to be sure.

hmmm, deleted all the numbers from her sim (as she had them in both) and it hasnt made any difference, seems weird as its working fine for phone calls but niot messegaing!

they are probably still stored in call register sent items etc etc,

are they saved as +44 or 07

erm, bit of both i believe, she has put a few in manually and they work, its the oners that she transfered over on her SIM that wont show up, i THINK i've managed to delete everything from the logs.

I had this problem on my 7210 and it was because the number was repeated in the phone book under different names and it confused the phone and just showed the number. Did you backup the directory to the phone and then hide it? Go to names settings show sim and phone then delete repeated entries.
