A man was burned by a Nokia mobile phone in Vietnam, three days after another Nokia phone exploded and injured a woman in southern Vietnam, state-run media reported today.

Nguyen Van Linh was playing billiards in the central city of Danang when he felt something hot in his pants pocket. The Nokia 8250 model was too hot to hold, Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper reported.

Linh was forced to remove his trousers and when he smashed the phone with a billiard cue to remove the sim card the battery was smouldering, the newspaper said.

On Wednesday, a woman in Ho Chi Minh City was injured when her Nokia 8210 exploded as she was eating breakfast in a hospital canteen, a news-website reported.

A counterfeit battery was thought to be the cause of the explosion Wednesday, VN Express said.

old news :)
nokia and siemens phones are know to explode alot. but for the past months all this is starting to see the light, cause nokia and siemens payed money to the victims to keep it to there selfs, but it seems that even money can't shut people up :)

Do you have any idea what actually causes the explosions ?

radiation interference with the battery's. errors in the battery, they just heat up and go boom
most of there battery's lion and nihm are made very cheap to cut back cost and to have more profit but this is not good for the people who buy those phones.

Wasn't it because the batterys were spurious (Not geniune Nokia batterys)?

It looks like it wasn't a Nokia battery but a replacement fake one.

that are the most common excuses, that the battery's were no original, bullshit yea

i havn't heard of any probs with exploding batts with SE
but i know ericsson had a prob with one of there very old models first generation, but thats so long ago. believe me ericsson and SE good expencive battery's, 4years ago they were already using poly-lion! my frist phone ever had that the T28, i never had any other phone (except the ones in the collection) without a good poly-lion battery i've always bought good ones as primary phones :) T28s, T68, P800, T610 (soon Z1010)

i was thinking more of the recent charger incident actually...
and how come your the only one who can't accept that the batteries were not Nokia originals? Having trouble admitting your wrong are you? ;)

not at all buddy. i know some had non-original batterys, but 95% of the exploding battery's are original ones.

i've got nokia's 2. i know what they can do, and how the battery's are, standby time is good, call time not good at all, and i've got some bad battery's 2. 5110 and 3330 very bad batterys

well in the years i've been researching, using and handling mobiles i've never once heard of exploding batteries, Nokia or otherwise. But then again you could have at it longer than me.
And the call time is fairly relative to the standby time. A phone, in my opinion, cannot have both a good standby and a poor talktime, they are usually relevant to one another.

but can we safely say Nokia is still the best mobile phone manufacturer or is Motorola taking over?

I think he was just trying to get his free unlocking codes without much thought for the answers.

true. he just suddenly pops a random question that does'nt relate to the topic in the slightest.
And i hate to judge, but I get the odd feeling bart is ever so slightly biased towards SE's ;)
