6600 help required

I must sound really stupid but i am new to all this and was wondering if anyone could help me out? I have a nokia 6600 which used to be on orange network but have had it unlocked and am now on virgin. My phone still has lots of orange branding on it and was told that if i flash my phone it would get rid of all this, if so can anyone tell me how to do it? also is there a newer software version for my phone that i could use?

flashing is only to be done if you really really know what you are doing as it is a sure way of messing up your phone (ask nick and D) the best thing to do is to take it to a small independant mobile store (not the link or the cpw) and ask there if it can be done.
My local store charges £15 so expect a similar amount.
